Being in business alone is hard. You wear multiple hats, you task yourself to the end of the world and somehow you always have something new to add to the list. If you are a solo-entrepreneur you know that life. You love it and You love meeting people who are doing the same thing you are in their own unique way! It inspires you to keep growing! I love meeting empowered women especially in this industry!
1. Who is Alex?
2. How did you get your start and introduced into the PMU world?
3. You teach, You have a product line, What inspired you to start and open?
4. If you could go back in time, what Advice would you give yourself as a new artist in the industry?
I met Cecile while working at the former Precis Brows and from the jump I knew that she was incredibly talented and special. Cecile is a one of a kind artist and trainer (Fundamentals and Advanced) and is now a new salon owner! (BIG Congratulations!!) She is Located in the OC, but also takes appointments and trainings in Fresno and Minnesota. If you haven't seen her work, get ready to fall down a rabbit hole of some seriously amazing shaping and pmu work! Meet Cecile 👇🏽✨
Hi! I’m Cecile! I was born and raised in sunny California! I’m currently 33 years young enjoying the journey. I majored in business marketing and was able to build a successful financial services business with my husband.
I became fascinated with permanent makeup after getting my own brows Microbladed 5 years ago! Like so many women, I struggled with shaping my brows. Being able to wake up and not worry about that was life changing!
After swooning over my own brows, I started looking at all the talented brows artists’ work, and thought, “I would love to help women with their brows!” I did not hesitate to take my first class and the rest is history!
My curiosity turned into a full blown passion and 3 years later I’ve been able to grow my brow business to 3 locations and have the honor in training many students!
I absolutely love seeing my students grow in confidence, not just in their skills but in their business and personal life as well. Being able to help women create financial security while doing something they love is an amazing feeling. I love being able to offer the many styles of brows to clients and teaching them to my students.
For artists who currently offer only microblading, I would highly recommend adding machine work to their services. This technique is suitable for all skin types and works best for correction work. It will also allow you to reach a larger clientele, which can help you bring in more revenue. Investing in new techniques and staying in tune with the trends will help establish yourself as an authority. Never stop learning and commit to growing everyday. You got this!
-Cecile

Artist Spotlight: Let me introduce you to Fernanda! An amazing multi talented artist currently based out of the city of dreams. I've loved following her and seeing all the beautiful work she creates! Without further ado here is my little interview into the world of this gorgeous woman and her journey into pmu.
Who is Fernanda?
I am a 24 year old, Latina, LGBTQ, PMU artist, and business owner. I am someone who craves creativity and inventiveness. I am that person up at 3 am with my best ideas flowing out of me like a waterfall. I am someone who loves giving and truly loves what she does because she is able to bring life back into places where some might have lost hope. I am also huge on family. Like many of my hispanic/latino people out there, I have a really big family who is very close and who will find any excuse to get together. Being Hispanic is a huge part of who I am. Our culture is like no other and full of life, passion and love. Family always comes first with us, and that has shown me the importance of loyalty which has always meant a lot to me. Being hispanic also makes me bilingual which not only do I love, but it helps me now even with work. I am able to take clients who are only Spanish speakers and make them feel comfortable and at ease throughout their procedure. This is a big one for me because I have family who only speaks Spanish and I know how difficult and stressful it can be being in a situation where you’re dealing with someone who only speaks English. Knowing I can bring my culture into my work space is comforting and its something I know my clients appreciate as well.
How did you get into the PMU business?
I got into PMU about 3.5 years ago after already having been working as an MUA for a few years. I was doing everything from event makeup, bridal makeup, even special effects makeup when I decided I wanted to try something new. Something that challenged me bit more and got my creative juices flowing. Even as an MUA I had always had love for some good brows. I had heard about microblading before it had exploded into the huge industry it is now and I always had an interest in it. I took the first class I found and started my course that same week! From the very first day of class I knew I had found something I was gonna fall in love with and wanted to pursue. I haven’t stopped since and more recently found other procedures I love doing and others I want to learn to perform. I’m grateful for this journey and so happy I found my way to it.
You do a lot more than PMU, Whats the best part of being in multiple fields?
The great thing about transitioning from makeup to PMU is that as a makeup artist you already have certain skills and a certain way of looking at things, which work to your advantage. To know how to use colors to blend together perfectly, compliment one another, and what colors cancel out others is already a skill set that not everyone has. You use the color wheel and color blending in PMU all the time and to have already had practice with that before starting my PMU journey is something that really helped me out. As an MUA and a PMU Artist you also have to have an eye for symmetry and for transformation. You constantly have to envision outcomes and know what qualities best fit each individual face. Ask any MUA or PMU artist, brows can make or break a look. They can bring symmetry and structure to a face when it wasn’t there to begin with and can be manipulated to become whatever you want them to be whether its bold, natural, fierce, or fluffy. Being in multiple fields gives me the opportunity to work with different colors, shapes, styles, and faces while giving people confidence and making them feel and look beautiful.
What advice would you give yourself at the beginning of your journey?
If I could sit with myself years ago I would tell myself to be patient in my journey. Being in the beauty industry can be difficult. There is a lot of cattiness within the industry—especially in makeup. I would let myself know to not take what people say and think too seriously and that there can be a lot of rejection and doubt. But, I would also let myself know that that isn’t the full journey. That there’s so much growth in it and it can be so rewarding if you put your mind and effort into it. You meet different people: some will challenge your growth, and some will encourage it. I would tell myself to take these experiences and use them to build myself up rather than tear me down. I still tell myself these things now because the journey never stops. We are constantly growing, constantly changing, and constantly learning.
XO, Alma
As we get closer to Miel turning one I have been reflecting on my personal journey. As you saw on my instagram my first client was my Auntie, alongside her and my personal clientele they have been essential and a big influence on my personal business and how I've approached it.
As a former student, a licensed Master esty, pmu artist and Latina woman I did not have anything in Spanish available to my clients and it was frustrating to say the least. My consultations with clients who felt more comfortable in our native language were about an hour, sometimes longer for them. Post service was almost up to an hour sometimes explaining the home care a couple times to make sure they understood. I was always left feeling a little helpless because I know that my clients, and yours too deserve more.
Having so many interesting experiences as a student, finding the right home as a pmu artist, and at the former Precis Brows as an education coordinator all really helped me mold Miel and my mission. I am really proud of offering necessary pmu forms, our healing cards and our blog in Spanish and English. Even if you are not bi-lingual artist or latin, having this information available is important and sets you apart as an artist.
Getting so close to hitting that year mark is so exciting and I am working hard to be able to provide you guys with even more. I am currently working on our education, business resources, new student resources and creating it all in both languages as well. I can't believe my baby is almost one! GRACIAS. For your continued support, for the referrals, the tags, for letting Miel be a part of your healing method and businesses I absolutely am thankful for each and every artist whos been a part of my journey.
Cheers to the futuro and all it may bring for all of us!
XO, Alma

Xo,
Alma
]]>Why do they matter? They play a part in everything we own and in everything we use! I believe the value behind them has a great impact on why we choose them too. As a licensed master esthetician and at the beginning of my journey I could never have imagined how big the world of ingredients was and the affect it has on our skin. I am super passionate about having a clean ingredient deck that has purpose and intention.
Our Miel healing balm and the ingredients in our deck have a purpose and intention. Each ingredient was chosen and combined to protect, nurture and heal the skin after a microblading session while protecting your artistry. During the healing process not only is this light breathable balm protecting your skin, but it's also protecting that pigment and keeping your work intact.
Our Miel healing balm is used for all types of permanent cosmetic services and post advanced aesthetic treatments.
High Oleic Safflower Oil, Golden Jojoba Oil, Refined Shea Butter, Calendula Extract, Bee Pollen Extract, St. Johns Wart Extract, Refined Beeswax, Argan Oil, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Lavender Oil.
Stay tuned for education on our ingredients, their purpose and more. I really couldn't be more in awe of the beautiful retention I get to see in your healed work.
Thank you for trusting us, and for letting us be a part of your healing process.

]]>My favorite part of all new microblading trainings or training refreshers was the Infection Control portion of class. Being the educational support for hundreds of girls across the country made very aware of the need for more education on this subject. There are differences in infection control policy per state and it is our responsibility as artists to understand the universal precautions (or standards) for infection control and what extra precautions we must take to make sure that we and our clients are always protected.
Let's break down what the Universal precaution for Infection control is, the levels of infection control and how that applies to us as pmu brow artists.
The practice of protection and avoidance in any field that exposes a professional to bodily fluids. These practices were introduced after the AIDS epidemic in the 1980's , and requires us to treat all patients/customer’s as if they were infected to minimize the risk of contagion and the spread of disease.
As permanent cosmetic artists we are required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as masks, gloves, smocks, eye wear when necessary etc. We are also required to follow proper personal hygiene, disinfection, sanitation and sterilization of our equipment and proper disposal of all one time use items.
Sanitation : The lowest level of infection control, this requires the physical removal of debris to reduce the number of bacteria, microbes etc. During training you should be taught the proper guidelines to washing your hands, and setting up.
Disinfection : The second level of infection control, this requires us to use products regulated by law to kill bacteria and a broad spectrum of other viruses. Per OSHA's 2001 BBP Standard, it requires all our disinfectant products to be an EPA-registered disinfectant with an efficacy against HIV and HBV or tuberculosis. ( for most microblading artists, I recommend Cavicide to clean areas, and the immersion of any metal implement that is not disposable, This is pre-autoclave) Post training you should be provided with BBP forms and guidelines + exposure forms. If you were not, we have them for 15$ available for purchase.
Sterilization : The third level of infection control refers to the process of eliminating, removal, or deactivates all forms of life (in microbiology referring to microorganisms such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, spores, unicellular organisms etc.) This often requires the use of an Autoclave , Chemiclave, or UV light post drying and storage.
Being a responsible artist in the pmu world requires us to go the extra mile for our work space, ourselves and most importantly our customers. Each level of infection control has specific guidelines from prepping our station, setup, breakdown and disposal of any contaminated equipment or tools. This is a small explanation to what we do and all the equipment we use, If you have any doubts or you were not taught this, Please reach out to your trainer, your state or even us for any support!
We are proud providers of BBP + Exposure forms with guidelines included incase there is an exposure to bodily fluids. We also include a small a list of what we believe you should have ready incase there is ever a need for you as an artist to file a claim on your behalf or for your client with your insurance provider.
We hope you found our small post informational! Please let us know if you would like us to cover anything specifically on our blog! We love hearing from our artists!
Sending you all love during this tough time!
xoxo, Alma
]]>For those who are getting to know me or this is the first time we are meeting, My name is Alma Marisol I am the owner of Miel Healing. I wanted to create this blog and create a different type of platform for education and to connect with you the artist and consumer in a more personal manner and to also be a bi-lingual platform.
I've always been behind the scenes and communicated differently with anyone I've helped or met through the company I formally worked with Precis Brows. It allowed me to create some amazing friendships and a bigger passion for teaching and supporting artists in this industry. It is a little hard sometimes for me to jump in front of the camera only because I've been so used to being behind the scenes! but little by little I am getting the hang of it.
I am a Master esthetician and Permanent cosmetics artist and have been working in the beauty industry since I was 19. I started my career wanting to empower women through transformation and I've loved every single moment I've gotten to share personally or through the education platform. I live now for sharing my passion through teaching and helping others advance who have the same goal I did when I began. Helping others feel beautiful and giving them the confidence to fully live through a beauty service has truly been fulfilling.
Deciding to move forward with Miel and creating a new platform has been amazing, hard, rewarding, and a learning curve for someone who's new to taking the lead and used to being behind the scenes.
My passion for teaching and helping others grow in this industry is my "Why" and I wanted to share that with you today. My promise with Miel is to provide to you a clean and healthy healing product (soon products) that you can confidently use with any client regardless of skin type or condition. Our promise is that our education will always be to empower and teach you a strong foundation that will strengthen your knowledge and skills.
My personal promise to you as a student, a current or new artist or customer is that If I can help, I will. It's my life motto and words that speak to my core values of service and empowerment.
I can't wait to meet you all and connect through this amazing product, our little pots of golden honey and our educational webinars. Sending you all love and well wishes. And as always if you need help, or have questions feel free to reach out.

¡Hola!

Alma Marisol

]]>We encourage you to wash your treated area gently with cool water and a soft cloth (brows, eyeliner, freckles etc) morning and night after your procedure. (wash hands, wet cloth or soft non woven gauze, squeeze excess water, gently wipe brows in one direction only to remove lymph drainage and balm, and pat dry with a clean towel specifically for your brows or a new non woven gauze) and reapply your Miel healing balm.
lightly apply the healing balm throughout your day maintaining them hydrated. Flaking is normal, SCABBING IS NOT. If you feel any itchiness, tight skin, or discomfort apply more Miel healing balm. Avoid extended and direct sun exposure, sweating, pools, hot tubs, lakes, salt water, hot showers and touching your freshly treated area. * we suggest being careful while cleansing to prevent scabbing, re-opening the wound or pulling pigment. If you are continuing to cleanse them, make sure you follow the steps listed above.
We suggest you also avoid any facial treatments or home use of anti aging products for up to 30 days as they can alter the healing process.
For Esthetic services :
We encourage you to follow your licensed professionals instructions of washing and using the correct product referred for home care. The Face and Body balm is to be used in place or in conjunction with treatment creams and or serums. Apply a light layer to the skin followed by thinnest to thickest of your home care products.
For everyday use as a moisturizer, we suggest you apply the Face and Body balm to your area of choice after a shower or bath, and to be reapplied as needed throughout your day.
